So whom does God wrong in commanding the destruction of the Canaanites? Not the Canaanite adults, for they were corrupt and deserving of judgment. Not the children, for they inherit eternal life. So who is wronged? Ironically, I think the most difficult part of this whole debate is the apparent wrong done to the Israeli soldiers themselves. Can you imagine what it would be like to have to break into some house and kill a terrified woman and her children? The brutalising effect on these Israeli soldiers is disturbing. . About This Quote

In the Book of Judges, there is a war between Yahweh and the Canaanites. Yahweh wants to destroy them but Moses intercedes. It seems to be a war that comes from Yahweh’s anger at their wickedness and rebellion against him and his people Israel. The Canaanites were corrupt and deserving of judgment and what they did was not right.

However, it does seem as though Yahweh’s chosen people, the Hebrews, were the ones who suffered the most from this war as they were forced to fight these people as well as their own God punishing army under the command of the wicked King Jephthah. Although this is not mentioned in the Bible, it was obviously a hard time for those who were forced into this bloody war.
